Wilderness First Responder Recertification

Location: Center for the Arts, Jackson, WY
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is recognized as the industry standard for those
who work as backcountry trip leaders, camp counselors, mountain guides, river
guides, ski patrollers and other outdoor professionals responsible for prolonged
field care of their clients and friends. This 16-hour module is designed for anyone
re-certifying their current WFR certification. Content delivery is built around
hands-on practical skills, scenarios, simulations and case reviews.
Topics include, but are not limited to: CPR considerations (when not to start and
when to stop), wilderness wound and burn management, assessing patients for
spine and head trauma, athletic injuries, addressing fractures and dislocations,
improvised splinting techniques, patient monitoring and long-term management
problems, up-to-date information on all environmental emergencies, common
simple medical problems, plus advice on drug therapies. Emphasis is placed on
prevention and decision-making.
All curriculum is based on current industry standards set forth by the WMEC
(Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative) Scope of Practice Guidelines SOGs).
Certifications: Upon completion of this course you will receive the following.
