Our Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is designed for the outdoor enthusiast, trip leader, raft guide, recreationalist, or land agency field staff who spends time in rural or wilderness areas. The WFA is a great introduction to wilderness medicine and basic life support skills. This training focuses on prevention, assessment, and treatment of environmental illnesses; recognizing and stabilizing life threats caused by trauma; addressing common medical concerns; and calling for a rescue in the event of a wilderness emergency. Curriculum follows the Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative (WMEC) guidelines.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will obtain:
DMM (Desert Mountain Medicine)
- DMM WFA Certification, valid for 2 years.
- DMM CPR/AED Certification, valid for 2 years.
- DMM Wilderness Anaphylaxis Training (WAT) Certification, valid for 2 years.
Refund Policy
- Full refund less a 15% admin fee, or course credit, with at least 7 days of notice prior to the start of the course.
- Full credit toward a future course with less than 7 days of notice prior to course start. Future credit must be used within 1 year, can be transferred once, and is based on course space.
